Up north
Greetings from Kitgum.
I finally made it up north. If you saw my Facebook status you can see it was quite the journey. I got into Entebbe and stayed for a day and then headed up North. I am working in Kitgum, but the airstrip is about an hour out. We had to stop the plane in three different locations and when we landed in Kabong, the airplane got stuck. So, you can imagine me on the side of a dirt road trying to push out an airplane. We eventually hooked it up to a little Toyota pickup and got it pulled out and headed to Kolongo. The pastor I am working with came and got me with one of the Ugandans who works on the farm. Then we headed out to a village called Latodore. I absolutely love it there. Oh, it is possibly one of the most beautiful places I have ever been! I got there in the afternoon and Ryan, the American missionary who is living there, showed me around. They are in the process of building him a new house, it's an earth bag house if you know what that is.
Therese, who's another American missionary also from Oregon, invited me to join her with the women's discipleship program she has been doing with a few of the ladies from the village. I was so blessed to be able to join. The traveled back and forth from the farm to the village doing children's ministry and meeting with the ladies again. I got to teach the children's message about Abraham sacrificing Isaac and shared with the women as well. I am finding that the Lord is giving me a love for Latodore.
We traveled to Kitgum Thursday evening and I have been able to go and partner with Therese in her ministry here; encouraging our Uganda brothers and sisters. It has been incredible to watch the Lord move in this place and his unending faithfulness. I love it here, if you didn't get that. :) the Lord is blessing me more than I could have ever fathomed!
Please continue to pray for the ministry team here. Especially for Summer. She is the pastors wife that I am blessed to serve with, and the Lord has given her 13 children who need her. However she is very sick right now and your prayers for healing would be much appreciated! She is traveling back to the states with two of her kids in two weeks and we are praying that the Lord will restore her strength and heal her body!
