Here are some more pictures from the village. I'll try to post some more of Kitgum when I get a chance.
This is where we stay when we're in the Latodore.
I love these little kids!!!
Just another thought:
I have been really encouraged by how much I have been able
to just sit before the Lord and listen to him. He has really been teaching me a
lot, and helping me to grow in him. I have been challenged. Before I left,
someone told me to just be a human being, and not always a human doing… when I
was back in the states I would just go go go… without a break. Between the two
jobs, school, the ministries I was involved in and just trying to have a life,
it was frankly too much to juggle. Some of my friendships can attest to how
busy I let my schedule get. I don’t say this to sound as if I am having a woe
me attitude or because I want you to know how busy I was… I did indeed bring it
on myself, and although it was challenging, God used it to help me prepare for
here.
So now, I sit in a hut in Africa. Continually blown away
about how the Lord is speaking to me. Before I left, I felt that the Lord gave
me the verse Psalm 27:14 – “Wait for the Lord, Be strong and take heart, and
wait for the Lord.” Okay God… but what does that really mean? On a daily basis?
I have been blessed to be able to teach some of the childrens ministries, out
in the village, but again this morning at Kitgum Calvary Chapel. I taught on
Esau and Jacob and how Jacob tricked Esau and stole his blessing from Isaac. As
I was preparing to teach, I again was reminded of this – Wait for the Lord.
Rebekah was told when she was pregnant that Jacob would indeed rule, but she
was too impatient to wait for the Lord and instead of meditating on what the
Lord had promised her; taking heart and trusting…she instead meddled and told
Jacob to go and take Esau’s blessing. And you know, she missed out. She instead
estranged herself from her son, making him flee from Esau’s vengence, and she
also cheated herself out of the blessing that the Lord would have revealed in
HIS perfect time.
I had to remind myself – wait for the Lord. The Lord has
given me these crazy promises and desires that I have no idea how they will
come to be, but I am trusting that the Lord will reveal it in his perfect time.
I wanted to encourage you friends – are you meditating? Or are you meddling? I
would love to think that my natural reaction would be to meditate and wait for
the Lord, but I am like Rebekah, a meddler who wants to take things into my own
hands and sure things along…
Meditate on God’s goodness, his faithfulness, his charater
traits and his promises.
It is so encouraging for me to hear that God is giving you the rest you need to finish strong at GF next year. We had too many conversations on our commute about being burnt out. I just knew He would work in your life and I love hearing how you let Him. Continue being.
